Big Ernie Tries to Understand Politics
President Clinton gets ready to pass off Big Ernie to the president-elect George W. before heading home for some rest.
This is what is in George W's future
Here is what Al and his friend were wishing for - carrying Big Enrie after receiving  her from Mr. Clinton.
Here is what Big Ernie has heard that a lot of people think of the election. She wants to know what is the difference between the old seal with the donkey and this one. She just doesn't understant politics!! She says in the ocean all salmon just want to go spawn and humans just want to stop them so they can hold big fish. Does that make sense?? Go figure! What does a fish know anyway! And does a fish really care???

Historical Note

When Andrew Jackson ran for president in 1828, his opponents tried to label him a "jackass" for his populist views and his slogan, "Let the people rule." Jackson, however, picked up on their name calling and turned it to his own advantage by using the donkey on his campaign posters. During his presidency, the donkey was used to represent Jackson's stubbornness when he vetoed re-chartering the National Bank.
